3rd of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I go and speak with a cleric of Kelemvor. After the information that I have been given about how Asmodeus gets his powers, and how the initiation rites work, I am curious to know if my suspicions of us belonging to him - without even our knowledge - is accurate. And I think the clerics of the god of the dead would be a good start.

I speak to him about devils, where he confirms that devils are the tempters of mortals. They want to claim souls and aren't above dirty tricks to get them. Our souls will go to our gods when we die, unless the devil has claimed it - for either being evil, or for dealing with the devils.

If you are faithless, and don't follow a god, you are put in the wall of the dead. The cleric said that it would be likely I would go to the wall, since I don't follow a god, even though I am tiefling, which implies a contract with the devil at some point. Since I didn't make the contract, I am not responsible for it. I ask if there could be contracts without knowledge, and the cleric said he didn't think so, but that you could never truly know with a devil. I wonder if the initiation rites, and the severing of the "heavenly" ties are our contract, and if I have possibly negated it by healing it?

Would all of Im's monks be destined to Asmodeus then? Is that why they want to know about monk babies? To see if they have, unknowingly, dealt with the devil?
