25th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade
I bent down to pray. I wanted to know why he said I was strong, but, more than that, I wanted my sister. I was going to ask Sh’a’riesh to lead me to her.
“Sh’a’riesh, can you lead me to my sister?” I murmured quietly.
“You are strong. You CAN change the world.” Sh’a’riesh responded. My thoughts and notes - Changing the world sounds hard.
26th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade.
I went to swim at a pond and prayed again. The conversation was basically the same - "Sh'a'rish.. please..."
"You can change the world" She interrupted.
My thoughts and notes - Why do I have to change the world? Why me? And why is he so dedicated?
27th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade.
I hung out at Moonlit clearing, where I found lots of blackberries. I prayed again. The same conversation!"PLEASE!"
"Will you save the world?" She responded, but she sounded like she was talking to himself.
My thoughts and notes - Sh'a'riesh is determined to get me to do something, but I feel like it is more than just saving the world. Could I even save the world?
28th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade.
I climbed around in the trees, around a big chunk of pine trees called "The soaring needles". I prayed again. The same conversation. Why can he not just tell me which direction to go?My thoughts and notes - Me, me, me, me. Why don't you let me find my sister?
When I see the tree, as always, I feel happiness—A great joy blooming outward in every part of my body, encasing it. I still wanted to talk to Sh’a’riesh. About my troubles.
29th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade.
I walked to Sh’a’riesh, the one who I pray to. I wanted my sister... I longed for her. I hoped Sh’a’riesh would help me find her, to help me just get to her. So far all she said was ‘you are strong. YOU can change the world.’ So now... now I was going to her - her tree - in person. I walked the familiar trail to the great tree, passing beautiful plants and berries full of juice. When I see the tree, as always, I feel happiness—A great joy blooming outward in every part of my body, encasing it. I still wanted to talk to Sh’a’riesh. About my troubles.
Why didn't the tree get rid of all your problems?
“Sh’a’riesh! I know sometimes I... I sometimes get mad at you, yes, I know, but, could you help me?” I called out. I hoped he would respond not like “You are strong” but it also felt good to hear it.
“Vorest, I know you are strong, but you are more than strong—you are brave, you are important.” I heard Sh’a’riesh say. I almost felt mad at him, just tell me a straight answer! I closed my eyes and saw Sh’a’riesh sitting in his tree.
Her eyes sparkled, and had the stars of the world in them. She was beautiful - in a nature kind of way, not king kind of way.
“You say that all the time!” I responded, though it was still nice to hear.
“You are more than you think. You are everything. You WILL change lives, and you will do it for the nature.” Sh’a’riesh continued, like she never heard me.
Now I listened. I will change lives? I thought. No way.
“I know you want your sister. I will help you find her - but you do not need me - YOU need to change the world.” Sh’a’riesh reminded me. I do not WANT to change the world!
The stars in his eyes sparkled and I couldn’t help but wonder - He wants me, but why me?
“Thank you. I will change the world.” I replied, almost shakily.
“You will not be alone. You will have friends to help you.” Sh’a’riesh told me, “No hero was alone. If you think hard, who can you think of that was alone?” after those last words, Sh’a’riesh disappeared.
I walked away slowly, and this question swirled in my head—How do I get those friends, and where can I start? Also, what hero had friends?
I walked slowly to a clearing in which I lived, and ate the berries I stored up. Questions swirled in my head. I didn’t really know what to do.
Go to a nearby town and make some friends?
Start heading to the forest of Amlar?
Something else?
I nibble my berries, thinking.

I nibble my berries, thinking.
My thoughts and notes - So, he wants me to have friends. And, I thought many hero's had no friends.
I closed my eyes to see Sh’a’riesh, sitting on a branch. Instead of responding, Sh’a’riesh highlighted a memory.
“Th-thanks” I stammered, and then I felt the great joy. “Thanks!” I repeated, more joyfully.
I ran to my clearing and sat there packing everything I needed—I also made some stuff; Some rope, and some other common stuff needed in a city. Then, I took out a map that I had when I was younger—I don’t know how I got it though.
After a while, I decided to head to a city near this forest, and the name of it was scribbled on so I did not know what it was called. Something then Rom? I walked for the day. The forest started fading away and I slowed down, scared, until finally I could race through more of the beautiful trees. But slowly there became less and less trees, and I had to walk in prairies.
I found the town—not a city—at dinner time, so I decided I would try to find some ‘friends’ in an Inn. Inns, though, probably had stews and not fresh berries, so that might be bad. I, at first, ducked into the shadows whenever I saw someone, then I realized, If no one sees me, how will we be friends? I was a bit scared of coming out, but I had to. I walked out quietly, almost tip-toeing, and found my way to an Inn. It was called the Inn, simply, and I wondered if all Inns were called the Inn, or if they made names more... interesting.
30th of Alturiak, year of the bent blade.
I woke up with a start. I fell asleep!?! I had an idea - I would ask Sh’a’riesh! But... why? He will tell me to save the world! I headed to the great tree, watching all the animals run around, not penned up. They were so free, it was so great! Finally I felt the great joy encase my body, so I called out, “Sh’a’riesh, where do I start?”I closed my eyes to see Sh’a’riesh, sitting on a branch. Instead of responding, Sh’a’riesh highlighted a memory.
I sat under the tree that me and my sister always played under. My sister sat beside me. We were chatting, about how my sister was leaving.
“I want to see the world, the ways of life, sister.” Creeper whispered. “There is more than one forest.”
I looked at her, tears filling my eyes and threatening to come out. “But... sister... we are... I need you. I... I will not survive without you! Sister, don’t go! I need you!” I cried. The tears broke out of my eyes, pouring in great cascades.
“We will see each other, sister. You can be friends with someone else, too.” Creeper whispered.
“Th-thanks” I stammered, and then I felt the great joy. “Thanks!” I repeated, more joyfully.

I looked inside, and saw a strange group—a dwarf and a... lizard person? Meeting a... horned lizard person? I could make no sense of it all, but they looked friendly... and they did not have huge jugs of that... that stuff that when you drink to much, you kind of get wonky.
“What is your name?” I heard the dwarf - or the lizard man - say.
The horned lizard person responded, and the dwarf and the lizard person seemed inviting.
I walked in, and walked to the table they were sitting at.
“can I join you?” I asked politely.
“What’s your name?” the dwarf asked.
I felt doubt over whelm me. I gulped, not knowing what to say.
’Vorest’?
‘Vorest Forestree’?
I finally stammered, “Vorest Forestree” Was that right?
They asked more questions—I can not remember them, and I was soo scared! Were these my friends or were these my enemies? My hated ones? Why were they more friendly with the horned lizard person than with me?
Finally they welcomed me. I didn’t understand why they were so... unwelcoming. We left after eating - the food was not that great, to me - since the town people were a little scared of the horned lizard woman.
We went to sleep. Our watch order was the dwarf, the horned lizard woman, me, the lizard man. Before I went to meditate I prayed.

"I will." Sh'a'riesh promised.
My thoughts and notes - I hope we do not hurt each other.
1st of Ches, year of the bent blade.
I felt a hand shake me awake. The lizard woman's hand. I got up immediately. I heard a gong, and yells of, "Raiders!" The others were already awake - Why was I awoken last?
We ran in to help the townsfolk. The town was on fire and little lizard walked in the town, making chaos. One had stolen a child - the horned lizard woman retrieved the little kid. I used "Thunderwave" to take out a few, but the rest I had to fight with my scimitar. I hoped I would not have to use it much, but I might need to. The mother of that child did not seem scared of the horned lizard woman, like the other townsfolk. The Innsman invited us to stay at the Inn. We did, though sleeping in a bed is hard for me. I hate it. I wish we did not need to.
The townsfolk say the dragon/lizard-men were Kobolds. Weird name.
My thoughts and notes - Were these the right friends or were they going to abandon me?
1st of Ches, year of the bent blade.
We walk on, and nothing really happens. We learn about each other.
Their names and alignments are:
Tsao - Tiefling monk (The horned lizard woman)
My thoughts and notes - she has a tail, her horns curl, and her skin is red. Why is she so different?
Or am I the one who is different?
Vandel - Dwarf fighter
My thoughts and notes - Does he value treasure like I value nature? Does he mine every single mineral out of the ground?
Vandederp - Dragonborn fighter (The lizard man)
My thoughts and notes - His skin is red. Was he born from a dragon? Was he a dragon re-incarnated? And what really was a dragon? I thought they had wings, and spikes on there back, not there head.
When I prayed this was the conversation:
"Sh'a'riesh, thank you for this day of learning. I believe I may have gotten wiser from learning about them." I whispered, "Thank you for these friends."
"I did this to help you on your way, Vorest." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - I may be happy to have these friends, but are they happy about me?
2nd of Ches, year of the bent blade.
This day is uneventful. It feels odd, since animals come up to me. Lots of the animals spooked when they saw us.
These people are so unlike me, walking noisily - Not Tsao - on the ground. When they see an animal, they do not go over to help them.
Will we help each other? Or will we leave each other to die? I would never, but these people are new. Would they help me?
When I prayed, the conversation was this:
"Thank you Sh'a'riesh. You have helped me every day of my life. Please continue guiding me." I murmured.
"I will." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - Will I live like this? The animals do not come enough, can I handle it?
3rd of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Today was exciting. We ran into a web of giant spiders. I do not understand why I fought. I used one spell, then I used my scimitar. I do not like how much I use my scimitar. We all fought the spiders well and Tsao looked disappointed - the way you would look if you failed.
These were my prays:
"Sh'a'riesh, I want you to help me and my friends. Please continue to guide me." I said.
"I will help you and your friends" Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - Have I been cursed? I attacked animals!
4th of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Today we continued walking on. Nothing bothered us. The prairies turned to hills. Beautiful hills. We passed a small pond, and I looked as ripples hit each other.
When I prayed, this was the conversation:
"Thank you for this great day. May you continue these great aids." I spoke.
"I will." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thought and notes - Today nothing happens. In these hills I do not know if it is oddly silent, too silent, or if this is normal.
5th of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Overnight was exciting. But the person - Vandal - on watch wasn't paying attention - He thought some bat-mosquitoes were mere horse flies. Tsao was awoken by the things sucking her dry. I, also, almost got sucked, but the things missed. I used no spells, just my scimitar. We killed them, which was difficult, they could fly, and I healed everyone. I hated those things! My praying was as follows -
"Why did you not tell Vondal?" I asked.
"I cannot do everything." She responded.
My thoughts and notes - Could Vandel already be hating us?
5th if Ches, year of the bent blade.
This day was uneventful. That was great, since I, and probably Tsao and Vandederp, was still angry at Vandal for thinking that bat-mosquitoes were mere flies.
My praying was this:
"Thank you for helping me through this, Sh'a'riesh" Was the first thing I spoke.
"Your welcome. I will help you through the rest of your life." Sh'a'riesh responded.
"And I will help you, too." I responded.
My thoughts and notes - No, Sh'a'riesh would he have told me. (The response to last notes.)
6th of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Today, we came across some giant weasels! Animals, I thought. They attacked us, wanting food. Vandederp attacked them, and it hurt to see them reel in pain. I immediately asked the weasels why, And then I said stop. They stopped, and I made them "good berries" for them to eat. They ate them and left.
I gave the extra good berries to the group - I also told them they had minor healing properties. And that they make you feel as if you had a nice, full meal. They looked surprised.
My prays were normal:
"Thank you for bringing animals. Thank you." I whispered.
"I will always help you, Vorest." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - How could Vandederp hurt the animals?
7th of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Today we ran into more kolbolds. A pack of them. I notice they do not really like the sun. Nice thing to know. We fought them off, me, again, using my scimitar. Again Tsao looks disappointed - again?
When I prayed I had this conversation:
"Thank you for all you've done, Sh'a'riesh." I whispered.
"Thank you for all you've done, Sh'a'riesh." I whispered.
"I will always help you. Thank you for all you've done." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - Why do I always use my scimitar?
8th of Ches, year of the bent blade.
Today we found a very old abandoned village. Dirty - at least some animals can live here. I wondered - If you destroyed a nature to get this, you might as well keep it, not destroy more nature! While looking around, we found a graveyard. Why do you bother with graves? I thought. Animals die and they do not dig hollows to put themselves into! Plus, it just makes a place for undead to live!
Skeletons came up and started attacking us, like we were some mice and they were cats, but the mice were rats, and killed the cats. While fighting, we found a cave, and after the battle - I used my sword for this battle, too - Vondal and Vandederp chose to go in. Do not poke the bear! Your begging to be attacked! Tsao walked in, too, so I supposed I had to come with them. We could just continue on, I thought.
We go down into the cave and we found out it is actually a room, with a pit thing. The pit had a dozen feet of room in the narrow areas, the corners, I do not know, 3 dozen feet? There were graves that were dug up, but the skeletons were dead. Good! Skeletons are just weird things that should not exist. That is good, especially for us! Vandederp threw a torch down the pit, and we are guessing that it is about 40 feet deep. Is that deep? So, he climbed down, slowly making his way down, and he finally touched the bottom. I heard skeletons awaken, and Vandederp ran out. I hate the skeletons. When you are dead, stay dead! He got hurt, but managed to escape. It didn't look like the skeletons could escape, so we went out the tunnel on the far side, and found a room with an incinerator. I stopped myself from plugging my nose, though it was horribly musty. There was a fire Mephit trapped in the incinerator and he asked us to free him, which we did. Thankfully Vandederp and Tsao aren't as hurt by fire! They undid his collar. While they were undoing his collar, Vondal yelled something about a shield to the face, like 'take that shield to your stinky face' or something, so we ran out and found him collapsed on the floor and a skeleton over him. We killed it, and then the remaining skeleton in the pit.

(I used my scimitar mostly. ahh!)
We went to sleep in a room - It didn't smell so good.
My praying went like this:
"Why did you make us go here?" I asked.
"So you could become wiser and stronger." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - Stronger? No, more hurt.
9th of Ches, year of the bent blade
We continue down the next hallway. I get the feeling this might go horribly, and I do not want another fight, especially with undead. Dead things should stay dead! We found doors that are carved in honor of Loviatar, mistress of pain and suffering.
How can anyone believe Loviatar can save you? Do anything for you? Help you? I do not understand how someone so horrible can be honored. The carvings look pretty, but knowing they are of Loviatar ruins them.
In front of the doors were a bunch of dead people. Are these going to come alive too? We opened the doors to a "church" (I do not understand anything about churchs, by the way - why do they destroy animals that are part of our lives just for a stupid building?) and zombies and skeletons. These ones animate, and all I can think of is 'uh!'.
Then I thought of using something that would get rid of them easily, and I heard Sh'a'riesh go into my mind and tell me something;
Then I thought of using something that would get rid of them easily, and I heard Sh'a'riesh go into my mind and tell me something;
"Turn into an animal, Vorest, a bear, stronger than you, and these monsters will be gone in less than a minute." He advised.
I knew I should warn my friends, else they may think a sorcerer made me into one. So, I shouted as loud as I could - "I'm a bear..." I paused trying to think of something to make it.... I don't know... funny? "Suckers!" I added, And then I felt myself grow bigger, stronger, and more furry. I roared and slashed at a zombie, then I bit deep into their neck, and I felt them go limp. I spat out zombie muck, feeling grossed out about it.
After dealing with these, we found another room with more horrendous friezes. I looked at them and wondered why someone would waste skill to make this. We found cells of people, and a note explaining that they were the cause of all these undead. It goes like this:

Ganneth was so, so certain that those luckless villagers would please Our Lady, that he started the sacrifice without the protections, we went along with it... why would we countermand our leader? I just barely avoided the necrotic blast, and just managed to lock myself in here ahead of the undead. It's been 2 days and they still batter the door... My last option is to prepare my own sacrifice and hope She smiles upon me.
H
Oh, wow, I did not think someone would sacrifice themselves to hope their god is happy because of them. I mean, I understand his fear for undead; Undead are horrid, horrid creatures - no, abominations. Uh! We took a break, and afterward we found some bedrooms - and they might have looked good if they did not have mold and rips and tears. We also found a basement. The basement continued, so we'll explore that tomorrow. We are resting tonight in a room that suggests torture and prisoners. Metal bars, and other things that probably are not worth mentioning. I look forward to leaving this place of pain, zombies and skeletons. (Especially the undead)
My praying went like this:
"Did you give me that ability just now?" I asked, eager to get an answer.
"I enhanced your ability with nature, Vorest" Sh'a'riesh responded.
"Well, Sh'a'riesh, thank you." I thanked her.
My thoughts and notes - Have I gotten stronger? I never could turn into a bear before, so maybe.
10th of Ches, year of the bent blade
We are still here, traveling, and we are going to go further down in this foul place. Why, why why? We found more skeletons and zombies - and this time Sh'a'riesh told me to turn into a bear again, as I might get more used to bear form, and bear form is effective. So, yes, I did. While we were down there, we found the person who wrote the letter somewhat explaining this insanity - Hondal. He explained that he was extremely hungry, and Vondal gave him a set of rations. It didn't seem to ease his hunger, so they loudly suggested that it would be handy if the bear could turn "human" and create some goodberries. I thought that this could go horribly wrong, but I still did, as these are my friends here. Hondal looks at the berry, confused.
"A berry?" He asked.
Can't he believe in magic? Just eat it! He plops it into his mouth, and fir some reason I wish it were an elderberry. As he chews, his face changes to euphoric and he comments on how amazed he is to not feel hunger, a beast that has been in his belly for DECADES. I somewhat do not know if I should believe him. I can not even imagine - decades? I mean, I am 15 or so decades old. He says when the undead came, he tried to plea for his life and protection to Loviatar, and she laughed and granted him a sort of immortality, for he cannot die, though he has tried - by his own hand, and by fleeing the zombies and skeletons. In thanks, he told us of a secret passage and ran off into the distance - far from this place. I hope hie chooses a good life after the trick his god played on him, I would not like to find him again, and have him my enemy. But I felt he might be my enemy - the look on his face....
His secret passage led to a treasure room, where magic slippers let you walk on walls and ceilings. I wondered if I would get them. The group decided that Tsao would make best use of them, so she will need to meditate to learn their ways. We also found a mace that Vondal was quite excited to use against the skeletons. Oh, and a significant amount of coin - though we do not really need coin - the only reason I would use it is to buy an animal to get it out of captivity.
We took a bit of a break to rest and heal up a bit. We also finished my goodberries.
After our break, we continued down the passage and found an absolutely destroyed laboratory. I still do not understand why there is this place in general. I wonder if the person who worked here liked it here.
We are done the basement and head to the floor above.
So we go to the place that went up, as it is the last place to go, and find the formal entrance to this place. There are columns dedicated to Loviatar, and they would be beautiful if I admired this god. Though I do not. We go to the exit and head back to the broken village were we found this horrid place. We camp in between to buildings.

"Sh'a'riesh! This place is horrid, of a god I can not understand! Why does pain and suffering bring joy?" I immediately asked.
"Life has many misunderstandings and confusion." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - If I can just go ahead and turn into an animal, I am stronger than I think.
11th of Ches, year of the bent blade
We head off to Kelethoen again. My friends call it a city, a large one, and I wonder... how big could it be? We head into the forest. Trees! Elm, pine, oak, spruce! Birch.... Wow! Trees and trees... and more beautiful trees! Today nothing attacked us.
"Sh'a'riesh, thanks." I said.
I only heard a 'yes' in reply.
My thoughts and notes - I am happy that these trees are here, but how long will they stay?
12th of Ches, year of the bent blade
We are still in the forest. All of a sudden it grew quiet, and a web shot out between Vandederp and Tsao. An ettercap! In the forest was an ettercap! I must of shouted ettercap or something because my friends nodded. I roared and turned into a bear and charged the ettercap.
"An ettercap attacked us!" I whispered so loudly my friends probably heard.
"I saw that. Good job." Sh'a'riesh responded.
My thoughts and notes - Ettercaps, ettercaps, oh my.
13th of Ches, year of the bent blade
I saw some kolbolds during my watch and shook Tsao awake. If she sometimes is frustrated, she needs to fight more, so she should awaken first! Then Tsao woke Vandederp and I woke Vondel. There were kolbolds and some flying kobolds. I bet Tsao wanted to run up a tree and get them.My thoughts and notes - Why did I wake Tsao first?

The attack from the kobolds was bad enough that we rested in the morning, when we should be walking. I am happy we do not get attacked while we sleep, as we might rest even longer. We got in an argument about whether to hunt them down, and afterwards Vondal went and tracked their lair. This was the conversation -
"We should go get revenge on those stinky things and kill them!" Vondal pointed out, clenching his fists and shaking them.
"It would take to long. Besides, they will attack us anyways - and there is no way of knowing how open there lair is!" I responded, as I did not want to fight those maggots.
He just walked, studying the kolbold stuff.
We followed in case he needed help, but when he entered the lair, we could not follow easily. I did not understand who would be dumb enough to do that! We waited to see if he would scream for help, but he came back with a couple of dart injuries and a defeated expression and told us glumly, "It continues to long, and I would be dead to go further.".
Finally our good friend got some common sense.
We headed back towards our last campsite and settled down. No progress today.
My praying went like this:
"Will you make me more powerful?" I asked.
"If you protect nature at all costs, maybe." She responded.
My thoughts and notes - No progress. Is that a bad thing?

During my watch, we are attacked again. This time by "needle blights" which look like spiky people monsters. Vandederp and Vondal were amazing with these! I fought mostly with my scimitar. This is horrible! My thoughts and notes - Will this continue? Will they track these monsters, too?

We slept later into the day. We ran into more needle blights. Vondal threw a ball of flame and Tsoa caught the spikes these monsters threw at us. She even threw them back! I do not think I got anything that special, nor Vandederp. I told them not to run into the moonbeam i cast, but that was no huge thing. I fought by moving the moonbeam and less using my scimitar. I am proud that I used something other than scimitar. We killed them, but i felt something was wrong. With the forest. I looked around to find an animal - but they were hard to find. I found a bunny hiding in a hole underneath some roots.
"Come out," I called softly, using speak with animals. Essentially, she said that the forest was well... wrong. I told my friends that the forest was wrong and that we needed to fix it. Side quests! At least this side quest protected nature. I walked according to the bunny's directions and we came across a clearing. Dead trees and needle blights littered the clearing. I cannot help but to gasp in shock. A vine guy (Like the needle blights, but vine) stood in the center, and at the far end, a horrible tree stood. I fought with spells, but most them I needed to not get hurt to keep. After the fight, I asked the two fighters if they could burn the horrible tree. I let them do it with my blessings. I needed to heal Tsoa, and I think I understand why she is getting disappointed. We find some treasure and the two fighters fought over some gloves - I hope they can settle on this simple matter. I asked Tsoa if she wanted to give me some writing tips. In the end, I did get some tips. I should ask again later.

My praying:
"Thanks, Sh'a'riesh." I told him. I felt his presence, but he did not respond.
My thoughts and notes - That was great! I actually did help the world!

The forest was calm, until we heard some crashing. An owl bear came out of nowhere and we had to fight it. I fought no times with my scimitar! The forest started fading, showing off some hilly terrain.
