21st of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We did find a boat last night! They have agreed to bring us straight there, without stopping in harbour towns inbetween, for just a little more. Hopefully that'll make up some of the time we used finding this ship!

20th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We may have found a ship tonight - we need to come back in the morning to work out the details. Hopefully they'll be able to take us!

19th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We search for another boat that will bring us the rest of the way to Sheirtalar. Not much luck, everybody has full loads, or they are headed the other way.

18th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We pass by some small islands, and hear some beautiful music. We see some beautiful winged ladies. All I want to do is go to them - which I find odd. I shake my head, and all of a sudden I don't want to go, and I can see all the people reacting to - their singing? Even Vandederp is trying to get there, though thankfully Vondal and Vorest aren't.

Vondal sees that the steersman is trying to steer the boat into the winged ladies, so he runs up and fights for control of the boat, to steer away from the ladies. I figure if the ladies' song is what is drawing people in, maybe if their is a thunderstorm, or at least the sounds of one, it might drown them out. Luckily, once the booms and rumbles really get going, more people realizing what they are doing. As we see that people are snapping out, we see the ladies flying for us. One of the crew yells that the harpies are coming - I suppose that is what they are. We manage to kill two of them before they turn around and run. We also manage to wake up everybody else.

We arrive in Calimport. The Captain announces that she is done, she is retiring, she is never, ever stepping on another boat. I think she said she'd start a pub or something. We find an inn, the Sandy Sea Sprite, and talk about how we want to continue on. We consult some maps and eventually decide that a boat would still make the most sense - though I'm not sure Vondal is at all convinced.

17th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Merrows once again make an effort to gain control of the ship. We stop them again. Is it just the area?

16th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

The Captain has been peering through her eyeglass for sometime. We ask if she is concerned about anything, and she says that she sees a ship sailing no flags. She is going  to do evasive actions, but we are warned that we might be able to.

When we can all see it, the other ship raises a pirate flag. The Captain gulps and says "That's the Dread Pirate Bloodfist."

The boat comes close and we are boarded. While we are fighting the pirates, some shark people climb up over the side and attack everybody - the pirates and our sailors alike. It is quite difficult to get everybody that doesn't belong on our ship off, but we manage to succeed. Vorest does a massive amount of healing - Vondal, Vandederp, the Captain and two of the sailors were badly hurt. There were more that we just couldn't save.

At the end of the fight, the Captain asks us to burn the pirate ship down. We find some munitions (but no pirate loot!) and blow the whole ship up.

15th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We saw dolphins today! Vorest just about joined them in her excitement.

14th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today we are attacked by ... a fog monster? I guess? It kinda reminds me of the living fire that we helped escape that oven. It's really hard to see, but thankfully they don't seem to hurt us much.

13th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We arrive in Memnon. Just a quick stop.

12th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

The lookout shouts "Manticore!" We see four of them in the distance. It was a good fight, but unfortunately a few of the sailors got hurt. Vorest healed them up after we defeated the manticores, just like she would us.

In the evening, we reach Myratma.

11th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today is a nice day. This sun is definitely getting hotter though, this is no longer my imagination.

10th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We arrive in Zazesspur. We can walk around, so we go for a walk through town. We find some snakey people bothering a girl. We go to see if she needs help and we are ambushed. The girl exclaims "Excellent! More slaves for the Empire!"

We kill them. While we look to see if they have anything interesting, we find tattoos. I find a dirty old paper and quickly draw a sketch of it, so perhaps Vondal can find their reason, this Empire. We take a break while Vondal searches for more evidence.

Nothing is found, so we return to the boat.

9th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today is peaceful. We see a giant squid! It is pretty neat looking. Some of the sailors don't like the squid, but I don't know what the problem is.

8th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

During the late evening, we are attacked by some merrows. We manage to beat them.

7th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Another peaceful day. I think I am getting used to this. The boat was fairly rocky again, but it's nice.

6th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Fairly peaceful day, though the water was a bit choppy.

5th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Another peaceful day - and we saw a pod of orcas!

4th of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

The Captain warns us to be aware, the waters nearby are known to be treacherous. Fortunately nothing attacks us, and we see a plesiosaurus. Vorest is very excited.

3rd of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We arrive in Velen early enough to spend some time. We manage to find 14 zombies somehow. We kill them, hopefully they don't have someone raising the dead here.

2nd of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

This was a quick stop, with no leave - possibly because of that weirdness at Athkatla.

1st of Eleint, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today is peaceful, and we make port in Murann

30th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

The captain is looking anxious, she must see or feel something that we just can't. After a little, Vandederp's sword announces trouble, and two water elementals come aboard. We manage to beat them, it's weird to fight water.

29th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We arrive back in Athkatla. This is not right. We leave again. Hopefully we can and this is not a trick!

28th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We leave Athkatla. Sometime around noon, we see a ship. It looks exactly like us - it even looks like we are waving from the over ship. And the crew looks the same too. The Captain looks really worried by this.

27th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We spent the day in Athkatla. What a cute town!

26th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Another day, no troubles. We dock at Athkatla in the evening.

25th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Another day, more peace. Though I try to help out, there truly isn't much I can help with - I am just not that good of a sailor.

24th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Another day, peaceful. The sun is shining, and I believe I can tell it's getting warmer. Though there is a good chance that is all in my head. But I am enjoying the sun!

23rd of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today is smooth sailing. No more giant snakes!

22nd of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We leave the harbour in the morning. During the day, Vandederp's sword announces trouble, and we see two giant constrictor snakes swimming for us. They manage to get on the boat and attack us, so we attack back. Vorest yells at us to stop, and talks to them and then feeds them. They slither off, and the Captain thanks us.

21st of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Vondal ran off the boat as soon as we were allowed to get off. We spent the day browsing and stretching our legs, appreciating the new sights to be seen. We return to the boat in the evening. Vondal is doing better, he doesn't run for the edge as soon as he feels the boat move.

20th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We stop at Baldur's Gate. Tomorrow we should be able to have a shore leave.

19th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today we saw a pretty cool thing - there was a "dragon" playing with some gulls. The dragon was about the same size and everything! While we watch, the captain tells us that it's a pseudodragon, and seeing them is normally good luck!

18th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Well, Vondal and Vandederp have found a place that is relatively safe to spar, so that they are doing something, and not just pacing ditches through the deck. Vorest is normally trying to throw herself overboard to see the animals - lots of fish, but not anything terribly exciting.

17th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Okay, maybe it's too calm and peaceful? Vondal is feeling a bit better, but that just means he has energy to pace around. He's not one to just sit there!

16th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

It is so peaceful out here! I can see why people would enjoy this, it is much faster, and relaxing.

15th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We board the ship! We are on our way to Sheirtalar! Our Captain is Captain Kalypso. We head out, standing on a ship is and odd feeling, and before your legs get used to it your stomach might do some flip flops, like Vondal demonstrated. I hope he finds his legs, being sick the whole trip would be terrible!

14th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

The plan is on! We will be leaving tomorrow. Due to costs, (and honestly, need) we will be selling Lilac here. We will be bringing our horses with us though.

13th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

One of the ship people says that they are doing well with unloading their cargo, and that they should be finished tomorrow . Then we could leave on the 15th! That is perfect, Vondal should be done his studies by then. We'll check back tomorrow to make sure that everything is still going well.

12th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Back to the harbour! We have a bit more luck with the boats that are coming in. There are a couple who think they could be hired, but they need to see how the markets work for them before they'll know their schedule for sure. Hurray!

11th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

We head back to the harbour. We speak to a few ships, but they already have a shipment and wouldn't have room for us. Unfortunate, but we have a bit more time.

10th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

While Vondal is working on his book, we go down to the harbour and learn about boats. There are many different kinds, and some are slower, or faster, than others. We learn what they look like, though I can't seem to recall the name of them. At least we know what the boats look like so we can seek out the captains or who ever would approve our hiring them.

9th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today Vandederp announced that his sword was finish, nearly, and he would be able to bring it home tonight. He asked us to come, as it was an important even for him and it should be witnessed. So we go to Mitévra's to see it be finished and presented to him.

When we get there, Vandederp helps out as he can - he is much more familiar with the forge than he was when he started! But that makes sense.

Once they are done everything, I have no idea what they were doing, but it got done, Mitévra asked Vandederp to get ready to receive it. She called down a blessing from Purphoros, which was granted when he showed up and blessed the sword. It's the most amazing thing ever! It's almost like I can feel his power, and I can feel that he blessed the sword - if it was like this at Vorest's tree, I can understand why everyone was so content. This is amazing.

Then Mitévra handed it to Vandederp, to which he thanked her profusely, and placed it back in its scabbard. We celebrated a little, and cheered, then we went back to the inn, to confirm what was happening next - We are going to head to Sheirtalar, by boat, preferably. Vondal also wants to study the book of strength that was gotten. So the plan is to find a ship, that will leave after 5 days or so, while Vondal studies the book.

8th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Vondal asked me to come with him. he has a couple orders to pick up, and while he could lift them, they are bulky and he would appreciate some help.

7th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I go walking through town. It is relaxing, and not as boring as sitting around the inn.

6th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I go walking, watching the people. It is interesting to see them go about their business. I would go with Vondal, but I believe he thinks I bring him poor luck. Vorest has been making friends of the animals here, and most don't particularly like me, so I shall just let her be.

5th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I wander about town. I think I have all the information that I currently seek. I have questions, but many of them, I feel like I could figure on my own, having the histories.

4th of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I go back to the park with the lake. It is such a wonderful place to meditate.

3rd of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

I go and speak with a cleric of Kelemvor. After the information that I have been given about how Asmodeus gets his powers, and how the initiation rites work, I am curious to know if my suspicions of us belonging to him - without even our knowledge - is accurate. And I think the clerics of the god of the dead would be a good start.

I speak to him about devils, where he confirms that devils are the tempters of mortals. They want to claim souls and aren't above dirty tricks to get them. Our souls will go to our gods when we die, unless the devil has claimed it - for either being evil, or for dealing with the devils.

If you are faithless, and don't follow a god, you are put in the wall of the dead. The cleric said that it would be likely I would go to the wall, since I don't follow a god, even though I am tiefling, which implies a contract with the devil at some point. Since I didn't make the contract, I am not responsible for it. I ask if there could be contracts without knowledge, and the cleric said he didn't think so, but that you could never truly know with a devil. I wonder if the initiation rites, and the severing of the "heavenly" ties are our contract, and if I have possibly negated it by healing it?

Would all of Im's monks be destined to Asmodeus then? Is that why they want to know about monk babies? To see if they have, unknowingly, dealt with the devil?

2nd of Eleasias, 1376, Year of the Bent Blade

Today I went shopping with Vondal again. He said he had a lead on some things, but if he did, the shop keeps did not want to acknowledge him. Or maybe it was me. Either way, today was disappointing, as he had me come to help carry things, and he certainly did not need help!
